Connect ChatGPT to your account

ChatGPT keeps custom connections behind a developer setting, so it takes a few more steps than other assistants.

Available on All plans

ChatGPT can work with your ideas, draft content and schedule posts, the same as any other assistant you connect. The difference is that ChatGPT does not offer Content on Easy Mode in a list. You switch on a developer setting first, then paste our address in yourself. It takes a couple of minutes and you do it once.

Before you start

You need a paid ChatGPT plan, and you need to be using ChatGPT in a web browser. The phone apps do not offer this setting.

Turn on Developer mode

  1. 1

Open Settings in ChatGPT and switch on Developer mode. ChatGPT marks it as elevated risk, because a custom connection can act on your behalf. That warning is about custom connections in general, not about Content on Easy Mode.

Add Content on Easy Mode

  1. 1

Go to Plugins in the left-hand menu and select the plus button.

  2. 2

Name it Content on Easy Mode, and describe it as turning conversations into content ideas, drafts and scheduled posts. ChatGPT reads that description when it decides whether to use the connection.

  3. 3

Leave Connection set to Server URL, and paste this address exactly: https://mcp.contentoneasymode.com/api/mcp/mcp

  4. 4

Set Authentication to OAuth. There is nothing to copy or paste here. You will never be asked for a key or a password on this screen.

  5. 5

Tick the box to say you understand, then select Create.

Sign in and choose what it can do

ChatGPT sends you to Content on Easy Mode to sign in. You then choose what you are willing to let it do, and you can allow some things and not others.

The permissions ChatGPT asks for

View your ideas, content and profile
Read what you have saved
Capture thoughts and extract ideas
Add new material and pull ideas from it
Generate content in your voice
Write drafts using your profile
Schedule posts to your connected accounts
Put posts into your schedule

Use it

Start a new chat, pick Content on Easy Mode from the Developer mode tool, and ask it for something. Searching your saved ideas, asking what is waiting in your inbox, or asking for a post to be written from one of your ideas are all good first requests.

The plugin permissions set to allow low-risk actions

ChatGPT asks permission before anything that changes your account, and does not ask every time for ordinary lookups. Allow low-risk actions is the setting most people want.

If something does not work

There is no Developer mode setting
Check you are on a paid plan and in a web browser. If your account belongs to a company, ask an administrator to allow custom connections.
It says no app actions available yet
Ignore this. It refers to something else and appears even when every part of the connection is working.
You signed in but nothing happens in the chat
A known problem on the ChatGPT side that affects other companies too. Remove the connection and add it again.
It asks permission for everything
Open the plugin and set Permissions to allow low-risk actions.

How this differs from other assistants

Claude offers Content on Easy Mode directly, so there is nothing to switch on and no address to paste. ChatGPT keeps custom connections behind a developer setting instead. Once connected, both work the same way and hold the same permissions.
