Capture links: send ideas from anywhere
Get a private link that lets you send a thought into your inbox from any device, without signing in.
Available on Some accounts
Ideas do not wait until you are at your desk. A capture link gives you somewhere to put one straight away, from whatever device you have on you. What you send lands in your Inbox, ready for you to look at later.
Get your link
- 1
Open your Inbox and select Brain dump links. A panel opens showing Capture Channels.
- 2
Find the row headed Your capture link. If you have not made one yet, it reads Not created yet. Select Create.
- 3
Select the copy control beside the link to put it on your clipboard.
Use it
Open the link on any device and you get a page headed Brain Dump with somewhere to type. You do not sign in, which is the point: it works on a borrowed phone, or on the one in your pocket with the app nowhere in sight.
Save the link somewhere you can reach quickly. On a phone, adding it to your home screen turns it into a one-tap way to get a thought down.
Turning a link off
If a link has been somewhere you did not intend, revoke it. Select the revoke control on that row in the panel.
Anyone who opens a revoked link afterwards is told the link is no longer active, and to ask whoever shared it for a new one. Nothing they send can reach you once it is off.
Knowing when something has been read
What you send is read and turned into ideas without you doing anything further. The same panel holds your preferences for what happens when your ideas are ready.
When your ideas are ready
- Show a badge in the app
- A count appears beside Inbox in the sidebar
- Email me a summary
- You get an email rather than having to look
